Carmen began her acting career in Tasmania, appearing every year in the Tasmania University open-air Shakespeare productions.  Her very first acting role was as Juliet in Romeo & Juliet.  She also played Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Perdita in A Winter’s Tale, Celia in All’s Well that Ends Well, and Measure for Measure.

In 1979 she moved to Adelaide, where she was the co-host of the ABC TV school’s program “Science About”.

In 1979 she successfully auditioned for NIDA, and graduated at the end of 1982.

Her acting career continues until now, and she’s enjoyed appearing in some plays, a number of film-student short films, an assortment of TV commercials and some TV dramas and miniseries.

Her first TV role was as Brenda Hewitt in Prisoner (aka Prisoner: Cell Block H – see pic).  She has appeared in minor roles in a number of Australian TV productions including Blue Heelers, Water Rats, Stingers, Neighbours, MDA, GP, A Country Practice, Very Small Business, and the telemovies After Marcuse and Curtin.

Ages ago she worked on breakfast radio in Sydney, with Larry Emdur, as … astrologer.  Strange but true.
